222 pages (complete). A resolute copy of this Black Consciousness informed journal that continually fell foul of the security police and apartheid government repression. Indeed the journal had a different editor every year because of state action against it. This edition is particularly important in the history of the journal. The editor should have been Thoko Mpumlwana (nee Mbanjwa). By the time of the journal's preparation she had been banned. Steve Biko (who had been editor of the first edition until he was banned) and his partner Mamphela Ramphele asked Asha Moodley (nee Rambally) to take over the editorship. The title page therefore, has Mpumlwana's name blacked out with Rambally's name printed underneath. Further, this was the last edition to be printed by a jittery Lovedale Press. In the wake of the Soweto uprisings and further unrest (also among BC activists) the magazine was under state scrutiny. They agreed to print this edition but no further. Later editions were printed by the Ravan Press and others. The covers have wear, creasing, scuffing and marks from handling and storage. They are secure. The contents have evidence of use. The page trims have storage tanning and foxing and handling marks. These marks sometimes stray a little onto the edges of pages. Some text on page 103 has been omitted due to censorship. However, in general and by far, the pages are clean, clear, authoritative, certain, assured, tidy, historic. fk. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services.
