343 pages (complete). Frankau was a contemporary of Brooke and Graves during the Great War, and his war poems stand beside theirs. At Eton he distinguished himself by publishing a satirical magazine, 'X Magazine', which, in true Etonian tradition was tolerated until it overstepped a mark - which it did pretty swiftly. A fascinating memoir, this copy has suffered from unfortunate storage. The covers are marked, bashed about but stoical and sturdy. Inside, the contents have been printed according to wartime economic standards. The pages are mild-mannered, worn, clear, genial and charming. fk.
