The History of the South African College 1829 - 1918 - 2 Volumes


Two volumes complete. The South African College was elevated as the University of Cape Town in 1918 - the year of publication for these volumes. It was intended as a full record of the history of the College as it prepared for University status. The two books are in general fair condition. The covers are worn, a little knocked, scuffed and marked. The gold titling and badges are bright. The spines, despite seam-wear, are tight, flexible and secure. Inside, there are ex-libris plates to the inside front covers. There are also previous owner inscription : "To My Dear Charlie, on his return from the War, Alex. Pitt" on the inside front covers. The papertrims are worn and a little marked from storage. The pages are relaxed, diligent, sober, estimable, clean, clear and confident. fk.
