Three volumes only (original print set was 12 volumes). In French throughout. Chez Bossange et Masson were a massively successful post-revolution French publishing company. During this time (1812) they were publishers/ printers to Napoleon (then at the apogee of his imperial cult). All three volumes have been rebound in the later 1800's. A letter (in French) from a previous owner was attached at this stage. This is included together with the remains of its envelope. All three volumes are much worn and marked. All three are pocket sized. Ex-library (Johannesburg Public Library) with consequent debris, residue, stamps, affixations, annotations, labels, classifications and wear and tear. The covers are heroic and firm. They are all complete and whole despite being much knocked about and worn. Handmade paper and cut according to the age. The pages, considering their age, are complete and whole, sure and amiable. They are clear, clean(ish), may be read and used with utter confidence and pleasure. All three volumes have a dignity that has survived their robust ownership. fk. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services.
