Two volumes (complete). Both are in comfortable, contented condition. Robert Chambers was the brother of William, who set up his own publishing firm (that still lives on, and publishes the excellent Chambers Dictionary). The copies of the publication of 'Traditions of Edinburgh' were the last to be printed on William's first presses! Fully bound in leather. This is comfortably worn and buffed by handling and use. They are placid and sure. The contents of both are clean, clear. They have blotches of aging, some evidence of contented wear. The pages are most genial and convivial, confident and certain. fk

28 pages (complete). Portraits by Joseph Simpson. Text by whisky merchant, the first Baron Dewar. Printed on handpressed, watermarked paper. A genial copy. The card covers are much worn and creased and marked all about. Stapled binding with string. The binding is comfortable and secure. The contents have light annotations in pencil throughout (mostly underlining of certain facts). Nonetheless, the pages are comforting, clean, clear, amiable, amenable, convivial. fk

Two volumes (complete). A third volume of this history of Scotland (requested by his Edinburgh publisher, Archibald Fullarton) was intended but never finished. These copies are acceptably worn and aged. Quarter leather. Marbled boards. The boards are much worn all about. They are rubbed, scuffed, marked too. The leathered corners and spines are also worn, benign, placid. Both the boards and the spines are assured and sure. Within, the pages are gently aged. Hand press-printing. The contents, although showing signs of wear and of years, are comfortable, clear, genial. All plates etc are present. The pages are contented, certain and competent. fk
